1964

Company foundation

Company foundation

Company founding as Dirkskötter Armaturen GmbH & Co. in Senden, Westphalia for the manufacture of shut-off, throttle, and control valves.
The company started with the development and manufacture of centrally seated shut-off valves in wafer and double flanged models, with sealing sleeves vulcanised completely into the valve housing.

1974

Change of name to DEKA Armaturen GmbH

Change of name to DEKA Armaturen GmbH

Physical expansion of the company facilities in Senden due to increased demands of industrial customers. There was an increased requirement for shut-off devices operable at increased system pressures greater than 10 bar, under extreme chemical conditions and thermal loadings.

1976

Extending of the production range

Extending of the production range

The product range was extended to include the manufacture of double eccentric shut-off valves in wafer and double flanged models, up to a nominal width of 2400. The latter were required for large-scale water treatment and sewage treatment plants. In addition to soft-sealing models, these types were also constructed as tight sealing models made of pure or composition metals.
Experience from construction of the double eccentric shut-off valves was applied for production of patented double-flange check valves with adjustable hydraulic damping.

1977

Development of shut-off valves with central bearing

Development of shut-off valves with central bearing

Development of shut-off valves with central bearing for use in abrasive media. Dirkskötter developed shut-off valves with sealing sleeves externally supplied with compressed air in order to prevent wear-intensive contact by the disc with the sealing element in the housing during the closing and opening process.

1982

Acquisition and renaming

Acquisition and renaming

After the accidental death of the company’s managing founder in 1982, the company continued operating under the name DEKA Armaturen GmbH. The new direction resulted in a further expansion of the manufacturing range. Many patent and utility model applications from this period prove the innovative force of the company under Gerhard Oberbeck.

1985

Change of name

Further development of shut-off valves

Further development of shut-off valves

This period of 1984 – 1986 includes the further development of shut-off valves with pneumatically supplied sealing elements, for which utility model protection was granted. Patent application for shut-off valves of the series DKZ 103 and DKZ 110 with the suffix APS® = Air Pressure Sailing (trademark 2 046 164).

Introduction of quality management

Introduction of quality management in accordance with EN ISO 9001. DET NORSKE VERITAS certified the development, production and distribution of the WAREX shut-off fitting program. This confirmed that WAREX valves and fittings fulfil very varied technical operating requirements, and that the company’s experience in terms of design, application, and manufacturing technology provides a very high level of safety and reliability for plant designers and users.
Development of the type series DKZE 103 APS®. For this eccentrically seated, universally applicable, low maintenance valve, the pneumatically supplied sealing element can be replaced even by personnel without special training, and there is no need to remove the valve. Use in pneumatic conveying systems for highly abrasive media.

Development of the first shut-off lightweight valve

Development of the first shut-off lightweight valve

A particularly economical shut-off lightweight valve was developed for highly abrasive media, under the designation DKZE 110, for use in pneumatic conveying and filling plants. DKZ 103 APS® Rotary Valve with multi-stage star-shaped valve disc. This is particularly suited for continuously supplying fine dosing units and screens with the appropriate conveyed material and granulates without bridging.
